Dear CAP Members & Partners:
As you may be aware, the La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent & the Grenadines is wreaking havoc for the residents of that country. Many persons are displaced, and the island is experiencing disruption of both power and water. The efforts to relocate persons to other islands are further hampered by the inability to continue the distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations in that country. Our hearts and prayers go out to them, and to those affected in other islands such as Barbados and St. Lucia.
The Caribbean Association of Pharmacists is seeking to assist those affected by this devastating event, and to this end, we are soliciting the assistance of our membership in providing relief items to the country. We invite you to donate in cash or kind as we press forward with our relief efforts. Items to donate would include:
- Bottled water
- Rehydration fluids
- Medications (e.g. analgesics, anti-allergy, etc.)
- Face masks and shields
- Assorted toiletries (many persons are in shelters)
As a CAP Member or Partner, your assistance is needed, and will be greatly appreciated. If you can donate additional items not listed above, please feel free to add them to your list. If your national Pharmacy Association is conducting its own drive, we urge you to make your donations through that avenue, as we are all one. If there is not a Pharmacy Association initiative in your locale, please contact our Executive Director, Pamela Townsend to make all arrangements (Email: , Mobile: 1868 795 7558) or the CAP Office ().
In this time of need, we appreciate any assistance you can render.
Marvin R. Smith, PharmD.
President, Caribbean Association of Pharmacists
